I'm back! The Civic Librarian Returns
The return of my content and new ways to support my work.
Hi everyone,
Happy 2024! After a long break, I am thrilled to announce the return of my newsletter. Thank you so much to everyone who subscribed in 2022, the first year of The Civic Librarian, and those who subscribed in 2023 and read my archived posts while I was on a hiatus due to a job change. I am so glad that you are interested in this content and am excited to return to it! My regular posting schedule will recommence next Sunday, February 18.
Content-wise, my posts will remain largely as they were throughout 2022. In each post, I will introduce an online government resource and show you how to use it. Sometimes, I will add additional links and tutorials to non-government resources when applicable. (Since it’s been a minute…check out my About page if you want a quick refresh on my background and content!)
The posting schedule will change a little. This year, I am launching paid subscription content in addition to my usual free content (never fear, the free content will remain robust!).
If you are subscribed currently or sign up for a free subscription, you will automatically receive the following content, free of charge:
A post (as described above) on the third Sunday of each month that all subscribers receive regardless of subscription status. This starts next Sunday if you subscribe this week!
Access to the full archive of free content
The resources I feature are always free to use and concern public information. I don’t want to gatekeep them. At the end of each free post, I will let you know what the topic of the paid content was for that month and link to the resource I featured. However, you will not be able to access the Substack posts about that content unless you have a paid subscription
That leads me to the paid subscriptions, which I am offering as an additional way to support my work. You can sign up for a $5/pay-per-month subscription or an annual subscription of $50/year.
Here are the perks that you will receive if you are a paid subscriber:
An additional, paid-only post on the first Sunday of each month. Different topic/resource than the free content for that month.
Access to the full archive of free and paid content
The ability to comment publicly on my posts (all subscribers can still contact me by replying to my newsletters or sending me an email)
The free post on the third Sunday of every month that all subscribers receive regardless of subscription status
Lastly, Substack also gives the option to become a “founding member” and commit an annual amount of your choosing that is higher than the annual subscription cost of $50/year. Founding members will not receive any more content than other paid subscribers, but I will send you a personalized note each year around the anniversary of your subscription to thank you for your support.

Thank you all again for supporting my newsletter. I do not market it on social media, so it relies heavily on word-of-mouth recommendations! Please consider sharing the newsletter with people you think would be interested in my posts.
I’m glad to be back. Let’s do this! See you next Sunday.
Audrey
Great news! So glad you’re back!
